Columbus Clinical Services research clinic provides compassionate and high quality medical care to patients participating in clinical trials through comprehensive evaluation and diagnosis of medical disorders. The doctors conducting medical research at Columbus Clinical Services are board certified, meaning that have passed a rigorous exam in his medical specialty. They are recognized for excellence and skill in medical practice, teaching, or research. They have pledged to keep current with the latest advances in medicine and committed to patient care.

Robert DeLuca, MD,FACP,FACG
Medical Director

Dr. DeLuca started his gastroenterology medical practice in Florida in 1974 and is currently affiliated with five hospitals in Miami and Coral Gables. He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and has an active practice. Dr. DeLuca specializes in disorders of the digestive tract including, but not limited to gastroesophageal reflux disease, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome and peptic ulcer disease. He is also a skilled endoscopist.

Dr. DeLuca received his medical degree and residency training at New York Medical College in Westchester County. He received his fellowship training at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL. He is a member of The American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Dr. DeLuca has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals including JAMA. Dr. DeLuca joined Columbus Clinical Services in 2010 as an investigator of clinical trials and was appointed Medical Director in 2011. His interest in conducting medical research is to provide the most advanced treatments available to his patients. In association with other investigators, Dr. DeLuca is expanding his research in areas of gastroenterology, endocrinology, asthma and allergy, dermatology, cardiology and neurology.

Maria Cano, RN,BSN,CRT,CCRC
CEO and Director of Operations

Maria Cano, RN,BSN is the CEO and Director of Operations at Columbus Clinical Services, LLC. Maria set the vision of the organization over the past 6 years to become a leading center for medical research in Miami, providing patients access to novel drugs and medical treatment. A graduate of Medical Sciences University in Cuba, Maria received her Bachelor of Nursing degree in 1994. She became a Florida Certified Respiratory Therapist in 1999 and a Florida Registered Nurse in 2009. Maria has nursing experience in emergency room, in-patient critical care, and out-patient care. She is a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator and member of many professional organizations including American Nursing Association (ANA), National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN), and Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP).
